BLINDI (female) I was dumped as a small puppy under a car when my owners realised I had no eyes. I was brought to the clinic and was so small, I could only climb stairs. So, when nobody could find me, all they had to do was look for me on the second floor. I am the only dog at the shelter who has stayed for ever with Brigitte and I have a special status here so am allowed to sleep in the bedroom with Brigitte, Werner and a select group of cats. I protect Brigitte and Werner from anything. I am always on alert in case I am needed. I like to chase flies in the garden but am not very successful at catching them. I'm not too keen on the pedicures I am given here. Ellen from Germany is looking after me. Thank you very much.

DAISI (female) I was hanging around the Weekender Resort and Silvana used to look after me when she stayed there. Silvana left money at the Resort for me to be looked after after she went home. However, nobody could catch me. When Silvana returned six months later, I had gone crazy and was running up and down the street and no-one could catch me. Eventually Silvana caught me and brought me to the shelter. I stayed there for around a year in Brigitte's house but I didn't like the other dogs much so Silvana took me home to Switzerland and I am now a happy doggie. Silvana from Switzerland took me back with her to Switzerland so I am now a European doggie.

BETTY (female) Luckily, I cannot remember the accident. When I woke up, many people had gathered around me but nobody stroked me. My left back leg was completely smashed and since I was in shock I hardly felt any pain. Somebody must have had the idea that I could use some medical help and called the DRCS. After endless hours on the side of the road they came to get me. They gave me an injection and I suddenly got very tired. When I woke up again, my leg was gone. Even today, I can sometimes feel it, but this is not possible, is it? I have lived at the DRCS for a long time and you should see how fast I am on three legs. Some of the four legged friends cannot keep up with me.
Bettina and Mike from Kassel in Germany are now looking after me. Thank you very much! |

SAMMY (female)
I used to live on Chaweng beach where Tanja and Hajo spent their vacation. I suffered a bad mange and on top of that I was pregnant. Tanja and Hajo took care of me and fed me. Unfortunately, they had to return home one day and called Brigitte who brought me to the shelter. There, I gave birth to 9 puppies. They all died since they were too many and my milk was not of best quality because of my sickness. I was sterilised so that this would never happen again. Meanwhile, I have recovered almost completely and have settled in well at the shelter. There is always plenty of food and water and many pals to play with.
Tanja and Hajo from Oestrich-Winkel in Germany are now looking after me. Thank you very much! |

GINA (female)
I was brought to the shelter when I was about 8 weeks old because I wandered aimlessly and helplessly on the streets. I am a very nice and beautiful dog, so it was easy to find a Thai woman who took me home. When I was about 4 months old this woman found a new boyfriend who didn't like me. As a result, the woman didn't like me anymore and I can call myself lucky that she brought me back to the DRCS and didn't put me somewhere on the streets. After a short while I settled in well again. There are 2 other dogs my age and we play all day long. Meanwhile, I have moved to the big shelter in Ban Taling Ngam and here also, the bowls are always filled up with food. I liked it better at Brigitte's house since there were more people visiting who cuddled me. However, the big shelter is better at rain since there is not enough dry space for everybody at the house. Diane and John from Trowbridge in England are now looking after me. Thank you very much! |

SOFIE (female)
I was brought to the shelter by somebody unknown and for a while nobody realized that I was there. Every new dog gets a card with medical instructions. But since I wasn´t sick I didn´t need any medicine. Good, that you don´t need a card to get to the food bowls! I was finally spotted when Brigitte did one of her inspections. She said that she is OK with me staying here forever - I was too young to live alone outside. My picture was taken and I was given a number and an admittance card. Moreover, I was vaccinated and sterilized. I have lived in the shelter for many years now and it has become my home!
Monika from Zurich in Switzerland is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

SÖCKCHEN (female) At the time when I was brought to the DRCS, I was well advanced in pregnancy. I was brought there by Regina from Ahrensburg. She knew that dogs are poisoned at the hotel/bungalows where she found me. Pregnant dogs have little chance of survival at resort hotels on Koh Samui. Most of the time the animals are taken to a temple and have a very uncertain future. I went directly to the new animal shelter in Ban Taling Ngam. They had just finished the second enclosure for stray dogs. After three weeks my babies were born and we were very well cared for. Some volunteers built a wonderful large wooden box for me and my litter and it with towels. With all that good pampering, all of my children survived and they are very well and Brigitte found them real homes. My puppies are checked regularly by the DRCS. Regina from Ahrensburg in Germany will take care of me. Thank you very much.

POPPIE (male)
I was brought in because I had been involved with some other male dogs. I had done my best to fight back with these dogs but I'm on the elderly side of life and I have no front teeth left. At the shelter, not only was the wound on my back fixed up, but the really bad ear infection was also sorted - that makes such a difference as I don't feel there are lots of ants running around in my head any more. Brigitte says that I am such an old crumble that I can stay with her for as long as I want. I want that very much. I like it here, in particular, when we get visitors as I get to jump up on them and put dirty paw prints all over their clothes. Kirsche and Nick from Worthing in England are now taking care of me. Thank you very much!

SPOTTIE (male)
I was living with my friends on the beach at Big Buddha. We were OK and being looked after by the monks at the temple there and some local tourists. However, one day one of the local people accused us dogs of killing his cat and, in an act of rage, he put poison down. Out of eight of us dogs, only Rolli and I survived. We survived because we had just been fed by the monks and weren't interested in the food which turned out to be poisoned. Why did this man want to poison me? I didn't eat the man's cat. When Brigitte heard about the mass poisoning, she turned up in her chariot (OK, it was only a pick-up truck!) and took us away. I now live at the shelter and await a new owner.
Nataly and Thomas from Königstein in Germany are now looking after me. Thank you very much.

JAGGER (male) I was running around a market in Nathon creating lots and lots of trouble. I’d get all the other dogs into a froth and we would run round and round the market, knocking people and baskets of fruit over. Eventually it became too much for No 1 Stallholder (she’s such a troublemaker) and she telephoned Brigitte at the rescue centre. The next day, Sakda and Don appeared with full dog-catching regalia and I gave them some run for their money! What a lark! Then they caught me. Bo hooo! I now live at the dog rescue and now have another set of dogs to get into a froth and we have lots of fun. Sonja from Bad Friedrichshall in Germany is now looking after me. Thank you very much.

MAYLIN (female)
I was brought by Sabine and Marcus to the DRCS since they found me on the street with bad mange. Moreover, I had a lot of old bite wounds which is a sign that my life had been quite hard. I stayed at Brigitte's and Werner's house where the mange was treated. Meanwhile, I look really good. I settled in well at the house and I am allowed to stay here because I get along with all the others so well. I like it a lot here since there are many visitors who cuddle me. I love that!
Sabine and Marcus from Germany are now looking after me. Thank you very much!
