 SALSA (female)

Hello, I am Salsa and came to the DRCS a few month ago. I am still a pretty young dog and came to the shelter because of my pretty nasty wound on the neck. I had to be treated and looked after for quite some time. Once I was back on track and finished all my medication, the DRCS-people got me integrated into one of the lovely (but pretty full) outside compounds. Thankfully I have made a lot of friends here and enjoy my time playing with them all. Apart from the annoying mange, I'm a very happy dog!

 CHUBBY (female)

My big brother Monte and I were abandoned by our prior owner. Apparently the neighbors all complained about us. We don't quite understand why we were left at the DRCS. Anyway, we are making the best of the situation and both live together in a lovely compound with a lot of other playmate. The food is pretty good and people are making sure that we are doing alright. All in all things are pretty cool....

 MICHELLE (female)
 

Unfortunately I don't remember much about my young life before being abandoned at the DRCS.  All I know is that I came together with my sister Anita and luckily the staff here took me in and cared for me.  I was approximately six weeks old and had not been vaccinated so I was quite weak and poorly.  I have now been vaccinated and I am on the road to recovery.  I spend most of my time playing with the other "teenagers" or sleeping!

 BABYLON (female)

I used to live in with a huge hotel compound before I came to the DRCS. I was a quiet and reserved dog and always minded my own business. Unfortunately I got quite bad and smelly mange and more and more hotel guests started complaining and didn't tolerate me lying under their sun bed anymore. The hotel people arranged for the DRCS to pick me up and made sure that I would not return again. Now I live at the DRCS in a compound with a lot of very young dogs to play with. It's actually pretty good fun and life's not too bad here.

 HEIKE (female)

I used to live in a small Resort in Maenam for a long time, where nothing was missing! Unfortunately, my "owner" didn't know that sterilising me would have been free at the DRSC. So when I had babies for the second time, they just couldn't handle it anymore and so they deposed me at the DRSC. And why so ever, they didn't want me back after my sterilisation. So now I am living in the shelter and I try to get the best out of the situation. Actually, I really like it here and specially the food is very delicious...

We started the Temple Project in 2007 and it has proven to be a big success. Hundreds of dogs and cats in the temples around Samui have been treated without being removed from their familiar environment.

No-one really could have predicted just how big this project would become, or how expensive, we currently deliver over 1000kgs of dry food a month, not to mention the costs of the medicines and vaccines we require to ensure everyone stays healthy. We (DRCS) are already suffering financially just to cover the everyday costs of running the shelter, so the additional money needed for the temple project is giving us cause for concern.

You can help us keep this important project alive by sponsoring one of our many resident temple dogs. With your help, we can help, by keeping them healthy, happy and safe. With your help they won’t have to rummage the garbage for food or fear for their lives on the street, they can live within the safety of the temples and be checked and well provided for by our dedicated project team every week.

My brother Figaro and I are still two youngsters who have a lot to learn. We were two unwanted kittens living in a posh hotel area. The hotel manager made it very clear, that they don’t want us running around in the hotel, so one of the guests brought us to the DRCS. We were both very shy and quite weak when we first came here, that’s why we had to spend our first few weeks in a cage until we were strong enough to be vaccinated. We are so glad to be out of that prison now and happy to be able to run around in Brigitte and Werners house and enjoy the daily fish party..hmm….

I was dropped at the DRCS when I was still a tiny little kitten and scared of everything that moved. Even the poodles scared the hell out of me. Thankfully that has changed and I turned into the king of the house. Brigitte even calls me cheeky. I guess that is a compliment!?

My owner just abandoned me and my sister Smoky here. I was very sad for a long time and I didn't even want to eat. But now I play with Günter very often. He would be my favourite new companion but Lucky Song, Marla and many others would like him to be their new owner too. I think I am one of his favourites, I can feel it.
