HOLZI (male)
I am actually a
real temple dog! My little sister and I were born close to the temple in
Lamai and the monks kept an eye on us. We did not know where our mum
disappeared. As the head of the family, I was taking good care of my little
sister until we both started to loose weight and got weaker without knowing
why. When the DRCS-Temple-Team showed up, we could tell from their faces
that something was seriously wrong with us. First aid at the temple was not
possible as we were told that we would need a lot of daily medicine for
quite some time. And that’s how it was. We got a really nice room in the
puppy house and were well looked after. With every passing day we felt a
little better and to be honest, if you don’t feel well it’s easier to stay
at the puppy house than at the temple. Not long ago the vet gave the O.K.
for us to return to the temple. During the months we spent at the shelter, a
lot has changed at the temple and many new dogs we've never seen before are
now living there. We were scared and didn’t feel comfortable at all. We
tried to make it clear to the volunteers that we want to go back to the
puppy house. Here at the shelter it’s so much easier for me to look after my
little sister. I am very thankful that we were allowed to come back to the
puppy house.
Great news: I found a new home on Koh Samui! While I was
staying at the DRCS, Anja and Heli from Helsinki in Finland were looking after me. Thank you very much!

SETTLED (male)
Unfortunately I
don’t have a very nice life ‚in freedom’ to look back on. Until today I do
not really understand why the humans didn’t like me. Wherever I went, they
chased me away!? Even after I got hit by a motorbike everyone still ignored
me. One day some two really nice volunteers from the DRCS found me
underneath a car and it looked like they were quite shocked by the way I
look. I had a lot of open wounds and was quite mange. I was being a really
tuff one to catch. After several hours they finally managed to get me and
brought me to the DRCS. Until today I cant really trust any human being and
prefer not to be touched. However I love it here at the shelter and it’s
definitely so much better than out there. I never want to go back there! I
love my other doggie friends and often snuggle up with them. Ohh and the
food is absolutely fabulous!

SANTIA (male)
I was picked up from the street
and brought to the DRCS when I was still a little mangy teenager. Thanks to
my young age (and my good looks), I was allowed into the puppy house. Even
though I had to stay in isolation for the first two weeks and could only
from far watch the others playing, I thought it was pretty cool to have all
those other playmates around me. It didn’t take long for my fur to grow back
and finally I didn’t feel like scratching myself all day long. I don’t know
exactly what then went wrong with me. I felt a little dizzy and was brought
to the vet. Unfortunately I cannot remember what happened after that. Back
at the puppy house, I couldn’t stop shaking and until today I look like I’m
constantly listening to some really crazy techno music. A lovely volunteer
explained to me that I’ve got a really bad nervous disease. It is often
difficult to get up the steps and I only wish I could control my shaking
whilst eating my food as it tends to get a little messy. However I have to
say that I’m loving it here and I have found so many friends which I
wouldn’t want to miss anymore. Thanks to my nervous disease, I can stay in
the puppy house as long as I wish.
