TENNO (male)

Maybe you can't tell by looking at me but I am The Great Chicken Hunter. I was wandering around my patch one day when I came across a chicken house with many many chickens in it. All the chickens were kept in very small cages with no chance of running free. It wasn’t much fun hunting them but I felt it was important to check out the situation. As I walked by the many, many cages, giving a good sniff to each inhabitant, the chickens started to scream blue murder! They screamed so loud that the local people came running in and chased me around with sticks. Eventually I was cornered in a toilet and I thought they were going to kill me. Thankfully, someone telephoned Brigitte who arranged for my removal to the big shelter. As I wasn’t prepared to stop hunting chickens, I had to stay at the shelter. It’s OK here but it can be boring without the chickens.

Stefan and Isabell from Bad Camberg in Germany are now looking after me. Thank you very much!

Also schrie ich weiter...

Efra from Krefeld in Germany is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

KELLY (female

My owner didn´t like me anymore as I was pregnant and so he brought me to DRCS. Some of my babies found new homes but some of them were too weak and died. Ages ago, I lost my right front leg in an accident but I can run almost as fast on 3 as on 4 legs. I am very affectionate and always try playing up to the visitors. Sometimes I think they discriminate against disabled dogs and don´t take me home because I am have three legs. For four legged dogs it´s easier. But you cannot imagine what a nice dog I am. Just come by and visit me.

Katharina from Gentbrugge in Belgium is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

TANNER (male)

After my castration, my owner refused to pick me up and take me home. He explained to the manager of DRCS that he didn’t want me any more. After that, we couldn’t reach him on the telephone any more. In the beginning, I was very sad and I had to sit in a single box for a long time because they didn’t know where to put me or what was going to happen to me. After a long long time (for me anyway), I was released into one of the compounds. There are a lot of dogs around and it wasn’t that easy in the beginning to fit it. I settled well and I heard that the food in my compound is supposed to be the best. We don’t let any helper with bread or rice pass through our compound without begging for some. That usually works (I can put on a really good 'pathetic' act) and good for the helpers too as they don’t have to carry the bread all the way to the last compound.

After some time at the shelter I got bored and decided to take my life in my own paws again and ran away. While I was living at the shelter, Stephanie from Germany was looking after me. Thank you very much.

TOM  (male)

I was caught close to a very expensive Hotel. The manager gave the order to keep all the straight dogs away. I tried my luck and didnt want to be chased away. Thats why I landed up at the DRCS. They don´t want any dogs at the fancy hotels so I guess I am very lucky to be at the DRCS now as I can only imagine what the Manager would have done to get ´ride of me´. You can get strong effective poison in every supermarket in Thailand and like that you can solve the ´dog problems´ pretty much over night. Of course the Manager wasn´t prepared to adopt me. He just told his gardeners to chase us all away by throwing stones at us.

After some time at the shelter I got bored and decided to take my life in my own paws again and ran away. While I was living at the shelter, Nun from Thailand was looking after me. Thank you very much.

SHARI (female)

When I was found  at the cathouse I was weak and starved. An animal friend has taken me there. I wasnt able to eat anymore because I had a huge wound in my mouth and one tooth was festering. For a while they only gave me NUTRIUM - that's a delicious paste. Something like astronauts food. Even with a broken mouth you can swallow that stuff. I´ve been living at Brigitte and Werner's place for quite a while now and as I´m not the youngest anymore they know that I need lots of love and comfort so I dont have to go back to the big shelter. I´m still very slim and get vitamins on a daily bases. Of course I´m a super-snuggle and I will give my best to keep my place on that favorite-list.

Petra from Austria is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

SISSI (female)

I was chased away by all the dogs (especially the women were bad) on Choeng Mon Beach and I had to walk in the water in order to not get bitten. The tourists there watched the whole thing a while and then got scared that I could starve or drown. I didnt know where else to go even though chances are they all attack me at ones. The tourist got me to the DRCS. At that time I was about 7months old and just ready for the sterilization. After the operation I was allowed to stay at the shelter as it was impossible for me to return to Choeng Mon Beach.

Barbara from Pulheim in Germany is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

TERESA (female)

I was brought to the DRCS by a Bar owner, together with my Mama and my sister Violet. Because my Mama didn't feed us enough the woman who worked at the bar started to worry. Something wasn't right and she was pregnant again. Violet and myself are now living at Brigitte´s place and Mom got to the big shelter where they will take care of her and operate on her groin. She´s now the proud mother of 2 more babies ( Brigitte says this will be the last time for her to have kittens ). Perhaps we´ll meet Mom and her babies at the big shelter some time.

Dorothee and Klaus from Nufringen in Germany are now looking after me. Thank you very much!

TERENCE (male)

My owner brought me to the DRCS when he needed to go to Bangkok for a month. He paid the first month for me in advance. 20Baht a day (about 50 Cent) he had to pay so I could stay at the shelter. That all was about 6months ago. I´ve never heard from him since. The telephone number he left behind doesn't even exist and I´ve stopped waiting for him to come back. I really like it here and love fooling around with the other dogs.

Diana from Aachen in Germany is now looking after me. Thank you very  much!

GINNI (female)

When I was a little kitten I was attacked by a huge dog who ripped a big hole in my belly and my intestines were hanging outside. A nice Thai woman picked me up and brought me to Dr. Joe who operated me. I was very sick but after a few weeks of loving care the stitches were pulled out and I was a lot better. Nobody wanted me, so I was brought to Brigitte´s house. And I love it here. Sometimes I purr very lout so that the humans have to speak up in order to have a conversation.

As a kitten, I was attacked by a huge dog who make a huge hole in my tummy and my insides were hanging out (hence my name). Some kind Thai lady picked me up and took me to see Dr Joe who operated on me. I was very sick but after a couple of weeks of tender loving care my stitches were taken out and I was all better again. Nobody wanted me so I came to live with Brigitte in her house and I love it here. Sometimes I purr so loudly, all the humans have to speak loudly to be heard above me.

Clarissa and Michael from Kehl in Germany are now looking after me. Thank you very much!

SAHM (female)

I was found by some tourists on the edge of the road after I had had an accident. One of my front paws was broken in several places. Unfortunately it did not heal properly and I dragged my broken paw along on the ground resulting in a deep hole. Dr Somsak had to amputate my leg and this picture shows me looking at my new anatomy (or lack of it), Now I am doing really fine and I run around the compound with all the other dogs.

Nataly from Germany is now taking care of me. Thank you very much!

FERRIS (male)

I share the fate of many cats at Brigitte's and Werner's house. As a tiny motherless kitten I was brought to the DRCS and I wouldn't have survived without help. Here are many cat mothers who care for us youngsters. Unfortunately, they do not have any milk, but sucking is soothing when you are very little. Meanwhile, I have become a big tomcat and since there are rumours that only very very nice cats come back to the house after neutering, I purr all day long. I sit on her lap and very importantly, I have never bitten her. The other cats do that occasionally and Brigitte does not react like a normal cat. Humans are weird. Small love bites are part of the game. I will of course keep on trying very hard not to bite and carry on purring because I like Brigitte very much. But it will not be easy for me since the red ones are not her favourite colours. The most important thing though, seems to be constant affection and regarding this I am definitely number 1.

Isabelle from Luxemburg is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

AGAPI (female)

Dany from DIVEPOINT has found me left alone in a corner of her office in the Boathouse hotel at Choeng Mon Beach. We have waited for my mom for a long time but she didn't come back. Then, Dany has brought me to Brigitte. She was immediately charmed when she saw me. I was exactly what Brigitte thought to be a very beautiful cat. We have played and cuddled a lot and I don't have to worry about going to Ban Taling Ngam. I feel great here and cannot imagine a better cat life.

Patricia from the Netherlands is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

PRINCESS (female)

I was brought to the DRCS by Raymund and Annick. They found me on the street as a helpless dog and did not want to leave me there. Originally, they wanted to take me to Belgium but than decided to leave me in the shelter since I might have been the breakfast for their two pit bulls. Meanwhile, I am not that helpless anymore and became the boss of the pack that lives on the yard in front of the kitchen. Only some are that lucky to live there. I go on daily walks outside the shelter with my friend Hobo who was hard to recognize after a while in the shelter. He came to Ban Taling Ngam naked and now has a wonderful brown fur coat. I think he fits me! (You'll find him on page 5 of the dogs and cats to sponsor).

Heidi from Bottmingen in Switzerland is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

DAMMI (male)

My right paw was broken so I was brought to DRCS by a tourist. I could not care for myself because I was not able to catch any birds and geckos. At the shelter at first, I was a little angry and wild because I was not used to humans. I soon got used to it and now like it here very much because the food is excellent and I 'have made a lot of friends. At Brigitte's house there are now 6 similar looking black cats, so we get numbers written in our ears every day, I am number 4. When I am old enough to be castrated I am supposed to stay at the shelter in Ban Taling Ngam afterwards. Meanwhile, it is very crowded in Brigitte's house and a lot of kittens are running around there. Brigitte has promised me that I can come back to the house anytime if I don't like it in Ban Taling Ngam. Since I like being in the garden trying to catch anything that's flying around I look forward to the garden in Ban Taling Ngam. I it said to be a lot bigger than the one in Chaweng.

Hildegard and the Haexli-Clan from Walde in Switzerland are now looking after me. Thank you very much!
