CASEY (female) I was brought to the DRCS together with my sister because nobody else would take care of us. We were just about 2 months old when we were dropped at the DRCS. Thankfully we could be kept in a room inside the puppy house until we had full vaccination. My sister was always the pretty one and found a new home in with the first three weeks. Due to the very ugly mange problems I had at the time, nobody showed any interest in me. Now my fur is getting better and I don’t miss my sister so much anymore. I love it here in the puppy house and hope that I stay here until one day someone is prepared to give me a real home…. Daphne from Munich in Germany is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

BIBI (female) I did belong to someone but they didn't look after me so I ran away. By the time I was rescued by some nice Thai people, I was very thin and very dirty. I was brought to the shelter and immediately Brigitte fell in love with me. She gave me special food to fatten me up but, unfortunately, she also gave me a bath - she's so fussy about cleanliness! Anyway, I now live in the house with Brigitte and it is my duty to protect her against anything and everything. As a result, I follow her around everywhere - toilet, bedroom, garden. EVERYWHERE! Jo and her sons from Wales in the UK are now looking after me. Thank you very much!

EBONY (female), Temple: Big Buddha Nicole from Luzern in Switzerland is now looking after me. Thank you very much! We started the Temple Project in 2007 and it has proven to be a big success. Hundreds of dogs and cats in the temples around Samui have been treated without being removed from their familiar environment. No-one really could have predicted just how big this project would become, or how expensive, we currently deliver over 1000kgs of dry food a month, not to mention the costs of the medicines and vaccines we require to ensure everyone stays healthy. We (DRCS) are already suffering financially just to cover the everyday costs of running the shelter, so the additional money needed for the temple project is giving us cause for concern. You can help us keep this important project alive by sponsoring one of our many resident temple dogs. With your help, we can help, by keeping them healthy, happy and safe. With your help they won’t have to rummage the garbage for food or fear for their lives on the street, they can live within the safety of the temples and be checked and well provided for by our dedicated project team every week.

CHRISTEL (female) When I got pregnant nobody wanted to have anything to do with me anymore and I was taken to the DRCS. I was a pretty unhealthy and weak cat at the time and wans't able to give my little ones what they needed. Unfortunately none of them survived. Time for me has come to try and settle in at the shelter and start to appreciate and enjoy life again...
Helena from Finland is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

WHITNEY (female) I used to live in a lovely little garden center in the Chaweng area, where I knew everyone and had a lot of friends and other dogs to play with. Unfortunately my people had to close the shop down because somebody else planned to build a fancy restaurant there. My people could not take me with them and the new restaurant owners didn't like me and didn't give me any food until I was so thin that I had to get serious treatments. Thankfully the lovely volunteer girls from the Rescue Center cared enough about me and made sure that I got my place in the DRCS where I have now found a lot of new friends to play with. The Family Keum from Hamburg in Germany are now looking after me. Thank you very much! |

Mr. BEAR (male) After I was hit by a car in the middle of the night I had to stay a long time at the DRCS. When I finally finished my treatment and was ready to go home, it turned out that the people who brought me in after the accident were not my owners. Nobody came to ask for me and no one knows where exactly I came from. Unfortunately I will never be able to properly walk again and that's why the DRCS decided to keep me here. Claudia and Jenno from Hamburg in Germany are now looking after me. Thank you very much! |

JUPTY (male) Petra (my favourite volunteer) arrived one day wanting to carry out a census of all us dogs. What followed thereafter was a great game of ‘Catch me if you can’! Petra ran around the compound trying to catch each dog to take its photo. All of us dogs let her get quite near us before we ran away in the opposite direction. What fun we had that day! As the day went on, Petra’s face got redder and redder. However, in the end, we let her take each of our photos and now here I am. Nobody knows how I got here or when I got here but here I am and here I will stay unless someone on the island wants to give me a home. Lesley and Mark from Berkshire in England are now looking after me. Thank you very much! |
