SADIE (female) My story is just like any others: My owner dropped me off at the shelter for spaying and promised me to pick me up again after 1week. Unfortunately it never happened and I've never seen him again. The helpers followed the contact details on my registration card and found out that the address doesn't even exist. Has my owner planned it all from the very beginning? I am very sad to be left behind but my life will go on at the shelter. I feel more and more comfortable with all these big dogs around me and I am usually the first one at the gate whenever we get visitors. ..... It might be my good old owner..? After a while at the shelter Sadie decided to take her life in her own paws again and run away. Mandy and Daniel from Erfurt in Germany are now looking after me. Thank you very much!

SCARLETT (female)
I was brought to the shelter because I was almost naked. Of course, I was to be sterilised as well. However, since I wasn't very strong they waited with the operation. After I had spent a lot of time in a singlebox and my fur had grown back, nobody could find my admittance card. No one could remember where I had lived on Koh Samui before. As I had waited in a singlebox for so long (and I wasn't a criminal) they had to find a solution. The solution was easy. They opened the door of the singlebox and I jumped outside. Now I live in compound no. 8 with many other dogs. It is the most beautiful compound and I hope that the helpers won't remember where I come from. I won't tell them. You can be sure about that. The food is very good and there are many pals to play with. What do I want more?! My owner showed up at the DRCS totally unexpected and took me back home. During my time at the shelter, Werner from Heilbronn in Germany was looking after me. Thank you very much!

TRAVIS
(male)
After a bad fight with another dog (he attacked me without warning from the back) animal friends who live on the island got me to got DRCS. They promised me to come back again. Unfortunately they´ve forgotten about me pretty fast and never returned. As no one knows where exactly I´m from, they cant bring me back again. I´m more of a quiet dog, I dont need to be in the spotlight all the time. The other dogs usually leave me alone and if there´s a dog looking for a fight I simple walk away. I´m actually a real softy and love to snuggle - I would love to find an owner for myself. But you cant have everything, right. All in all I´m happy at the shelter. There is always enough food and some of the other dogs aren't even that bad.
Jutta from Germany (living in Coccorino in Italy) is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

DAM
(male)
I was brought to the DRCS by some tourists since I was very skinny and they thought that I wouldn't survive. The food from the trash bins I had to live off was not good quality and there was never enough to get full. I stayed at Brigitte's and Werner's house for many months. When I was strong and big enough I had to move to Ban Taling Ngam. First, I didn't like it there at all. But now I live in a beautiful compound with bananas and have many pals to play with. When people come to visit I take care to be the first one to greet them. Maybe someday someone will take me home!
Brigitte and Peter aus Erkrath in Germany are now looking after me. Thank you very much!

GRANADA (female)
I am one of the dogs that sneaked in to the DRCS. After once more all the dogs were counted in compound no. 9, they found me. I was a "blind passenger". There are two dogs in this compound that look very similar to me. That's why I could run around there unseen. When the helpers found out that I didn't have a green tattoo yet, a big discussion started. At first, I couldn't understand why they made such a big fuss out of that green tattoo. Now I know. All females that have such a tattoo don't need to have babies anymore. Nevertheless, the tattoo seems to be an entrance ticket to the shelter. I now have one as well. Nobody could find out how I got there but I now have a card with picture. I am now a regular member of the shelter an am looking for a sponsor who assures that my bowl is always filled. Catherine from Calgary in Canada is now looking after me. Thank you very much! Granada found a new home.

THONG
(male)
I was living at the beach close to some bungalows. Some tourists tried to make friends with me and wanted to feed me, but I had had many bad experiences with humans. So I preferred to stay away. In the night I went to the garbage bins of the bungalows in order to find something to eat. Of course, the people in the resort weren't happy about the mess they saw every morning. When I went up to the garbage bins one night, I did not have to dig for food, since there was a bowl with delicious food waiting to be eaten by me. A few steps away there stood a man and a woman smiling at me. After a few days I got used to them and since I had seen that they always fill up the bowl for me, I started to trust them. I was fed by them every evening and slowly I started to trust humans in general again. I was allowed to lie on their terrace every day and everything was great for me. One day they surprisingly packed their things and locked me in the bathroom. I was brought to the DRCS and since then I have been living in the shelter in Ban Taling Ngam. Since my new friends had to go back to Australia and it is not allowed to take dogs from Thailand there, they couldn't take me. I was very sad at the beginning, but the food is very good here and is always plenty. Dagmar from Biel-Benken in Switzerland is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

TRINITY
(female)
I have been living at the shelter for quite a while and since there are many black dogs nobody realized that I had sneaked in. When the helpers had to make a picture of one of the black dogs and all of them were looked at, they realized that I didn't have an admittance card with picture. All helpers were asked whether they knew something about me and where I came from. One of them at least could remember that I had been here for a while. They found out that I had jumped out of the single box after my operation into one of the compounds. Why my admittance card was gone, nobody could tell. Immediately, they made a picture of me and since I have a card now, I am looking for a sponsor. A real owner would of course be nicer because I am a very nice and lovely dog! After some time at the shelter I got bored and decided to take my life in my own paws again and ran away. While I was living at the shelter, Darren from Braintree in England was looking after me. Thank you very much. |
