I was found on the street in Ban Rak by animal loving tourists. They thought that the place was not safe enough for me and my three children so they brought me to Brigitte's house. Here, I could raise my babies without any troubles. Two of them have already found a new home. I have created a new job for myself because I like to nurse all newcomers, may they be small or big. Some of them are even bigger than me. After some time at the shelter I got bored and decided to take my life in my own paws again and ran away. While I was living at the shelter, Nina from Weidenberg in Germany was looking after me. Thank you very much.

JANE
(female) I was one of a litter of three and homes were found for my two siblings; however, no-one wanted me. My owner dumped me at the shelter and Brigitte now looks after me. Unsurprisingly, Brigitte immediately fell in love with me and so I now stay with her in her house. I like it here as I can speak to Brigitte at whatever time of day or night I choose and she insists that I eat some lovely fish every day. Dagmar from Biel-Benken in Switzerland is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

EMILY

I was brought to the shelter together with my sister Emily. We were brought by animal loving tourists since we couldn't take care of ourselves when we were 6 weeks old. From the first moment, we have felt great at the DRCS and we love to sleep in the bed. Stephanie from Germany has decided to provide a new home for a cat from Koh Samui. Brigitte suggested a few of us and she chose me. In contrary to my sister Emily, I did not gain much weight but just got a bigger stomach. Therefore, Brigitte and Dr. Sid think that there could be something wrong with me. For a couple of weeks I have been shown to the vet every 2 days and was given several kinds of medicine. I do not really know what they want from me. I am absolutely fit, I love to eat the food and I have wonderfully shiny fur. Nevertheless, I still look as if I was pregnant. But this is not possible because I was sterilised a while ago. I feel great here and when Charlotte will fly to Germany instead of me, it is O.K. for me. What is that? Germany? I heard that you have to sit in a box for hours… I think I stay on Koh Samui. I have a sponsor already. UNFORTUNATELY, EMILY DIED. WE MISS HER VERY MUCH! While Emily was living with us, Dorothee and Klaus-Peter from Nufringen in Germany were looking after her. Thank you very much!

CHARLOTTE
(female) I was brought to the shelter together with my sister Emily. We were brought by animal loving tourists since we couldn't take care of ourselves when we were 6 weeks old. From the first moment, we have felt great at the DRCS and we love to sleep in the bed. It is not easy to distinguish between us and we have a lot of fun playing twins. Probably, I will fly to Stephanie in Germany soon. Actually, she chose Emily to live with her but she is still very thin and bony. The doctor doesn't have an explanation for this and Brigitte thinks it is better to send me instead of Emily. In Germany the vet fees are very high and when you only enter the doctor's office to say hello you will have to pay 20 Euros. Since Dr. Sid doesn't have an idea what's wrong with Emily I think it is better that I fly to Germany. The flight to Germany did not work out, but I have found a super new home on Koh Samui. I do not need a sponsor anymore.

(female) Of course, I am also a lucky cat. O.K., I admit that I do not look that happy on my baby pictures. I was brought to the shelter when I was about 6 weeks old. At first I was only scared. After a short while I have recognized that there were a few surrogate mothers living in the house. Even if some do not have any mild they do take care for us smaller ones. I have chosen Lisa as my surrogate mother since she is very nice and very caring. For us very small ones it was often hard to get to one of the teats since some of the cats – that were too old for this anyway – pushed in all the time. Nevertheless, I grew up to be a very beautiful cat even without any mother's milk. Meanwhile, I live at the shelter in Ban Taling Ngam! Come by and visit me! Karyn and Jeff from Bacchus Marsh in Australia are now looking after me. Thank you very much!

ORNELLA
(female) The three coloured cats are called lucky cats. If that's not luck: I was brought to the shelter when I was about 8 weeks old. I don't know why my mom did not return home one day. Suddenly I was on my own and I would have died of hunger or would have been eaten by one of these giant dogs. Mother has always warned us of the big dogs. At the beginning when I lived in Chaweng, I always made myself bigger when one of these huge animals crossed my way. Meanwhile, I got used to Fanta and Husky. Besides Fanta and Husky, there are four smaller dogs living in the house. But they are only a nuisance when they are in a pack – one alone is no problem for me. Since I am a very beautiful cat I was brought back to the house after sterilisation. Here I live happily together with about 50 other cats. After some time at the shelter I got bored and decided to take my life in my own paws again and ran away. While I was living at the shelter, Martina from Bielefeld in Germany was looking after me. Thank you very much.

MORENA (female) I was brought to the vet in Chaweng by compassionate tourists because I suffered a bad eye infection. They couldn't save my eye but since I was at the DRCS anyways they sterilised me. Brigitte was of the opinion that it would be too difficult for me to catch mice and other small animals every day. Therefore, I was allowed to stay in the house. For a long time I lived together with Brigitte and Werner and – in the meantime – about 50 other cats. After a while I found it too boring there, so I started to attack the other cats. Just for fun. The others did not find that very funny and I got in trouble very often. Since I was the one to blame I was brought to the cat house in Ban Taling Ngam. Here, the garden is much bigger and there are not as many cats as in Chaweng. I am always happy about visitors. Since they have a lot of compassion I am the one to be cuddled the most.

FOXY SONG (female) My master took me to DRCS for neutering. After that I was supposed to stay another three weeks at DRCS because he had to visit family. My master had paid 600 Baht (20 Baht per day) for my stay at DRCS and I assumed that he would pick me up after. After one week in a terrible single cage, I was taken to kennel no. 8. There a whole pack of dogs attacked me. I was very scared. They only wanted to sniff me out, but there were so many... After a while they all had “greeted” me and left me alone. I was waiting for my master! One month passed and nothing happened. Two months passed and nothing happened. I do not know how many months have passed - he has never returned. Uschi and Günter from Cologne in German are now looking after me. Thank you very much.
