SCHOCK DIE
(female) I've been here for about four years but like to escape frequently - I'm extremely good at jumping the wall. However, because I keep on getting mange, I am picked up when I'm on the street and brought back in for treatment. The latest bout of mange is just about to be treated completed and, after that, I'm due for my next escape. I ran away again, but this time I did not show up anymore. I thought it is a better idea to find a new home by myself. While I was in the shelter Maria and Daniel from Sweden were looking after me. Thank you very much.

ROXI (female) I came in with my sister Büsi. We were found abandoned in a box when we were around three weeks old. When we came to the shelter, Lisa (three-legged cat) adopted us, let us feed from her and taught us how to clean and look after ourselves. Jacqui from Australia is now looking after me. Thank you very much.

JULIA
(female) I was brought in by a tourist who found me wandering around the market. I had lost my mother and I was really young. Although I could eat on my own, I needed a lot of extra nutrients to nourish me. This I got at the shelter and I'm now much bigger and healthier than in this photo. Hurra! I've found a home in Koh Samui! While I was at the shelter, Elke from Germany was looking after me. Thank you very much!

NOODLES (male) I was living in a house with an old lady and my feline friends Pritti, Mai Tai, Tinker, Loony, Billy and Moon. We kept our owner happy by sitting with her and purring all day long. She loved us very much but she became unwell and had to go and live with her son in a far off land. Our owner wanted to take us with her but her son didn't want that as he has four dogs. So, we were brought to the shelter where we now share our new house with lots and lots of new cat friends. Good news: I have found a new home on Koh Samui. While I was living at the shelter, Karin from Heidelberg in Germany was looking after me. Thank you very much.

SPOTS (male) I was living on the market in Nathon but the dogs there kept chasing me. I couldn't get any peace from them. One of the stallholders took pity on me but couldn't take me home as she has three dogs there. She called the shelter and they brought me to Ban Taling Ngam where life is good. Isa from Heidelberg in Germany is now looking after me. Thank you very much.

MUCKY
(female) I was a frequent visitor to one of the temples on the island as the monks there fed all the stray dogs. Brigitte came on one of her regular inspection tours and I was taken away to have an operation to stop me having babies. However, because my mange is so bad, I was kept at the shelter and will remain here until I'm better. I miss my monk friends but I have more dogs to play with here. Great news: I found a new home on Koh Samui. While I was living at the shelter, Catherine from Canada was looking after me. Thank you very much.

TINA
(female)
I was brought to the shelter in a terrible condition. Immediately, Tina (one of the volunteers) fell in love with me (very understandable) and said she would make me better. So, I've been given special medication for my hair and, unfortunately, have had to suffer the indignity of a bath with special shampoo. Ah well, at least the food's good and Tina comes to visit me a lot. I love Tina. She's given me a special bow for my collar. When all the dogs were counted, it found out that I am actually Sacky. Hildegard from Walde in Switzerland is now looking after me. Thank you very much.

FLETCHER (male) I was brought in because of mange. I thought I was looking OK but Brigitte disagreed - she said it looked as if I had holes in my skin! I've been getting special treatment and my fur is growing back. Unfortunately, however, no-one can remember where I came from so it looks as if I'll stay at the shelter for a long time. That doesn't bother me much as there are lots of doggies to talk to and the food is good (especially the special rice which Tina cooks for me). Riitta from Finland is now looking after me. Thank you very much.

GROUCHY (female) All the cats in the cat room were checked and it turned out that everyone had been mixing me and Hooper up, thinking we were the same cats. Brigitte says I should have been called 'Mai roo' (that's Thai for 'I don't know') as that's what everyone said when she asked how they could have mixed me and Hooper up! Anyway, I'm glad I was found as I will now have an operation to stop me having babies as Hooper was starting to look at me in more than a friendly fashion! Catherine from Canada is now looking after me. Thank you very much.

LIREU (male) My Thai owner brought me in to the shelter because I had mange. My owner wouldn't bring me back for three weeks in a row (treatment is one injection a week for three weeks) so I stayed in the shelter for that time. However, my owner never returned to take me home and I miss him. I'm amusing myself taunting the other dogs here in the shelter but I'd rather be at home. Angela from Flamatt in Switzerland is now looking after me. Thank you very much. |

SAHMLIE (female) I've had something wrong with my right front foot since I was a baby and was eventually dumped by my owners. I wandered around the market trying to get food but I was frightened by the other dogs. Some of the stallholders took pity on me and brought me up to the shelter. Here, life is OK as I have found a good spot to rest for most of the day - its under the shade of the trees so I am lovely and cool. I don't bother the other dogs and they don't bother me. Michele from Flamatt in Switzerland is now looking after me. Thank you very much. |

SIDA SONG (female) I came into the shelter because my back right leg had been broken. Nobody knows how this happened but it is suspected that someone broke my leg because I chased his chickens (a dog can't run quickly if its leg is broken). I lived for a while down at the big shelter but I didn't like it there because the other dogs were nasty to me. I started to give up and not eat so Brigitte brought me back up to her house. I now live in Brigitte's yard and I am much happier here. I was given extra special food to make me put on weight which I have and I would love it if you came to visit me. Frank and Jacque from UK are now looking after me. Thank you very much.

LAEMMI (male) When I spotted Brigitte's husband, Werner, he was walking back from the market after having bought some fish. He looked so friendly (and he smelt of fish), I decided he needed a new feline friend. Werner took me home and immediately I made Brigitte fall in love with me (that wasn't hard as I am extremely cute). Now I live in Brigitte's house and I amuse myself by chasing the other cats around. After a while I got to the big shelter and I like it very much!
After a while at the big cathouse, I´ve decided to live my life on my own paws again. During my time at the shelter, Rosalie from Germany was looking after me. Thank you very much!

LAILA (female) I made the mistake of wandering up to say hello to a nice person in Nathon. Big mistake! That person happened to be a volunteer at the shelter. She decided it was time that I was given the operation to stop me having babies. Nobody in the area would claim me as their cat so I was taken down to the shelter where I now live in peace and harmony with the other cats. It's better here than living on the market as I don't have to steal food from anyone any more. Good news: I found a home on Samui. For the time I was in the DRCS, Karin from Heidelberg in Germany was looking after me. Thank you very much.
