TOMMY (male)

I came to the DRCS not so much as a street-wise dog but a street-wise puppy! I was a very mature 10-week old puppy when I was found by one of the DRCS helpers. He reckoned I couldn't look after myself but I'm sure I could have, given some more time and a better source of food (I was scavenging in the rubbish bins and eating rotten food). After a six-month stay at the shelter in Chaweng, I was taken down to the big shelter at Ban Taling Ngam and I'm having a great time here. There is lots and lots of food and I play all day long with the other dogs. I really like it when we all dig holes in the ground.

After a while it was to boring for me at the shelter. I decided to try living on my own and ran away. For the time I was living in Ban Taling Ngam, Silke from Lueneburg in Germany took care of me. Thank you very much!

FORGET- ME - NOT (male)

I was brought in by my owner because I had broken two of my legs after a car accident - I had been chasing cars which, up until then, had been my favorite game. I rolled under the car and broke my left front and back right legs. Brigitte looked after me at her house and my owner visited frequently. Then he stopped coming and never returned. I looked and looked for him but to no avail. After a few months, my legs healed and I was able to walk without limping. I was moved down to Ban Taling Ngam and now live in one of the compounds there. I am quite happy here but I still with my owner would come back. Maybe one day.

Good news: Together with Jumbo I found a new home on Koh Samui! My new owner has 4 horses and at night we sleep in the stable. We are both very happy. For the time I was living in the shelter, Katja from Bamberg in Germany was looking after me. Thank you very much!

KIWI (male)

I was brought in as a young pup by a tourist who was worried about me wandering around in the traffic at Nathan. She thought I couldn't look after myself. I stayed at the shelter in Chaweng for a while and grew bigger and bigger until I was the biggest dog there. After a while, Brigitte felt I would be happier living in Ban Taling Ngam so I came down here and I now live in a compound with another 15 dogs. That's fun, especially when Jumbo, Lord and I play the jumping-up game: that's when all three of us simultaneously jump up on an unsuspecting human visitor! Good game.

Hurra! I have found a new home on Koh Samui. While I was living at the shelter, Britta and Marcus from Ennepetal in Germany were looking after me. Thank you very much!

YING (female)

I was brought to the shelter as a puppy with my four brothers and sisters. We had been separated from our mother too early and had been dumped on a path in the middle of nowhere. At first my brothers and sisters (two of each) lived in a small kennel but, after a while, they started to disappear, one by one. It always happened after a visit by a human who wanted a puppy (but not me). Soon, everyone was gone except me so I was allowed to run around the house at Ban Taling Ngam until I was big enough to go in one of the compounds. I like it here in the compound. The dogs speak doggie to me - it can be difficult to understand humans at times.

After a while I decided to take my life in my own paw and ran away. While I was living at the shelter, Tarja and Ari from Finland were looking after me. Thank you very much!

LISA SONG (female)

I was found in the sea by Michael and his wife who had been walking on the beach. I was close to death so they took me to see Dr Somsak. Dr Somsak gave me special medication and operated on me and I was brought to Brigitte's house to recuperate. I didn't really like it here and ran away but quickly realized that I could not look after myself. I returned to Brigitte's house as I knew she would feed me well - that evening I got some lovely red snapper cooked especially for me. I am still very thin but am responding to some tender loving care. From time to time I run away. But after two days I always return home to be fed and cuddled. Brigitte is always very happy when she sees me again.

While I was living at Brigitte`s house, Margarethe from Frankfurt in Germany was looking after me. Thank you very much!

HASI (male)

I was a special 'donation' from a farang who left me chained up outside the shelter. I am a big dog (XL) but I'm frightened of smaller dogs (M)! That doesn't make me a bad dog, does it? I really wish my owner would come back and get me. Every day I look out of the gate, watching for him.

Meanwhile I found a new owner on Koh Samui and I am very happy. While I was living in the shelter, Silvia, Marc, Alain and Sabrina from Genf in Switzerland were looking after me. Thank you very much!
