DAVE (male)

I had been living on the beach in Bophut close to the Marmaid hotel. Since I am quite old life on the beach was never easy. Some time ago I broke my leg and it was never really treated. Therefore, it swung back and forth. When Samantha from England saw me like this she immediately brought me to the DRCS. For my broken leg it was too late since it is not possible to carry out complicated operations on Koh Samui. The problem I had with my fur was treated immediately and I got extra food because I was quite skinny. Dry food is available here all day long. If one bowl is empty it is filled up again right away. That's very important because there are 50 stray dogs living on Brigitte's yard and they are not very friendly when it comes to food. But here, we do not fight for food but for cuddles. But that also is a tough fight, there's a lot competition.

Samantha from England is now looking after me. Thank you very much!

LOTTI (female)

I was dumped at the shelter with my brothers and sisters when we were very young. We were all very ill and underweight and, despite Brigitte giving us special food, only one of my brothers (Chinai) and I survived. Chinai and I still live in the puppy compound and we play all day together. Lina (our surrogate mother) keeps us in order.

Lucrezia and Jason from Reynella in Australia are now looking after me. Thank you very much!

Lotti found a new house.

AIDA (female)

I was brought to Brigitte's house when I was about 6 weeks old. There were even some surrogate mothers from who I was able to get some mild. I am one of the many black and white cats and was able to sneak through for a while. Months passed and it was noticed that I hadn't been sterilised. After the operation I was lucky because I was brought back to the house. It would have stayed that way if I hadn't felt the urgent need to overcome the almost cat-safe fences in the garden. There was only one problem: how to get back. After I had walked the outside of the fences and had jumped onto the wall where the dogs live, I was brought to the cat house in Ban Taling Ngam. I like it here and I think I will be able to break out if I want to.

After a big storm a palm leaf damaged the fence of the cathouse and Aida run away with a few other cats.

During the time at the shelter, Catherine from Calgary was looking after me. Thank you very much!

SNOWBALL (female)

I was dumped outside the shelter with my five brothers and sisters when we were about five weeks old. I was the only one who didn't have a wound of some sort. We were looked after every day by three volunteers (Miles, Zoe and Rob) who made sure we were clean, well fed and given medication. However, all my brothers and sisters died because of the injuries they came in with and I was the only one left. I now live in Chaweng at Brigitte's house and my favorite game is to sit in the water bowl. Sometimes I have to dig out the water bowl to make it more comfortable.

Catherine in the Canada is now looking after me. Thank you very much.

KWACKY SONG (male)

I was brought to the shelter by Kelly and her boyfriend from UK who had found me. I had been very poorly so they looked after me and fed me. Because they were leaving Koh Samui to go traveling, they could not take me with them so brought me here to the shelter. At the moment I am one of 12 kittens in the house but I am the biggest and the strongest one and I show the young things how to play with the big cats. I like to play around in the garden and chase Brigitte's toes.

After I got big and strong, I decided to live on my own. So I ran away. While I was living at Brigitte's house, Iris from Germany was looking after me. Thank you very much!

CENTRAL (male)

I was brought in with my four brothers and sisters. We had been separated from our mother and had been living wild. We spat and hissed at everything so spent the first few days at Brigitte's house in the cupboard under the kitchen sink, sneaking out only when food was about. After a couple of days, we let the humans play with us and we got less worried and calmed down. Over the next few months, three of my brothers and sisters were rehomed (all except Sweety) but I didn't really miss them as there were lots of other cats and kittens to play with and the humans are good fun here too.

Meanwhile I have also found a new home on Koh Samui. While I was living at Brigitte's house, Renate from Germany was looking after me. Thank you very much!

THEISSEN (male.)

I am such a gorgeous big beast! However, my owners didn’t realize how big I was going to get when they got me as a puppy. I grew and grew and they got more and more worried and concerned I was going to eat them out of house and home (which I did). As I grew, I became more boisterous and started to knock things over like chairs and the table! For some reason, my owners objected to this and I was dismissed and sent to the shelter. I’ve lived here for some time now but, even though I’m big, I’m very gentle with our visitors and always say hello to them.

Because I am so beautiful, I have finally found a new home. I promised to behave. While I was living at the shelter, Renato from Switzerland was looking after me. Thank you very much!
